“Ragas are soliloquies and meditations, passionate melodies that draw circles and triangles in a mental space, a geometry of sounds that can turn a room into a fountain, a spring, a pool.”
- Octavio Paz
The most ancient form of Indian Singing, Dhrupad has traditionally been passed from teacher to student and until recently, only performed by men.
During my time at Dartington, I travelled to India to learn this sacred tradition, and I have recently continued to receive lessons and develop my practice using the internet.
Today, I am inviting you to an invocation, a peaceful, timeless space through the melody of Raag Bhairav.
