Climate change, feminism and South Asian music are just some of the topics covered in FUTURES on Air. As part of FUTURES2020 EU funded festival, South-West community radio practitioners Stellaria Media are facilitating a series of programmes, co-created by members of four community radio stations with researchers from the University of Exeter, Bath & Plymouth University.
Community Radio is a space for people to make radio in their own way, talk about meaningful issues in their lives and connect with others. For this project, members of Bath Radio, Phonic FM (Exeter), Soundart Radio (Totnes) and Radio St Austell Bay have identified topics that are important to them and have been paired up with exciting university researchers working in relevant areas. Through a participatory community media methodology, we are working with a variety of approaches for us to listen, respond and create together.
