Group radio shows and community events facilitated by inspiring artists

Following our successful learning programme, Everybody Counts which explored maths and sciences through art and music, in 2025 Soundart Radio welcomed learners to three new coll

Listen! Field recording and sound with Tony Whitehead

Learn simple ways to listen deeply to your environment and how to capture everyday sounds.

Tony is a Dartmoor-based sound recordist and environmental campaigner. He has been involved in community sound recording projects for over twenty years, including the groundbreaking Sonic Postcards project with Sonic Arts Network in the early 2000s and many projects with Soundart Radio and other arts organisations.

I loved the exploratory and discovery nature of the sessions and it really opened me up to a world of sound that was otherwise hidden or locked away within everyday environments.

Play! Music, theatre and improvisation with Ergo Phizmiz and Lottie Depresstival

A series of performative radio drama workshops and live broadcasts exploring song, acting, comedy, sound effects and writing!

It is easy to forget that the most important word in the phrase "putting on a play" is "play". In increasingly spurious and difficult times, there doesn't seem to be time enough for anybody to explore ideas which - given the human capacity for creativity - seems an injustice.

The highly regarded and controversial mixed media artists Lottie Depresstival & Dr Ergo Phizmiz, regulars on Soundart's Friday afternoons, invite you to join them in the making of a series of Plays for radio, using the whole range of radiophonic techniques combined with experimental approaches to making radio drama.

The whole experience was so beautiful and has given me the confidence to be more ‘front of stage’.

Experiment! Investigate the world through science with Jessica Langton

The experiment show is a place to follow your curiosity about the world around and inside us, in all its weird and awesome facets.

Bring your questions, and help research and investigate the wonderful world we live in. Invisible forces, Microbiome and Fungus, Programming and AI, the Science of Smell, the Science of Sound, Conservation and Ecology on Dartmoor, Space, Love!

Jess Langton has worked on many fun community projects bringing people together and is delighted to have helped with Soundart Radio's maths show, 'Multiply', and now 'Experiment'. Although artsy by nature she's science curious (actually, all things curious).

It gave me confidence, inspiration, I socialised for the first time in ages and felt part of something genuinely community rooted. I came away with new skills and have since built on this to gain work on an ecological art project.
